CLIENT: THE FRANCOPHILE

“Make me feel like I’m in the South of France”, she said. The design brief was simple. Achieving this in an Afton Oaks ranch house was not. It took some creativity. With low ceilings and few architectural details that could be considered ‘old world’, the task at hand was to create a space that felt expansive and as if it had witnessed a great deal. Bringing in rich, lasting materials that have stood the test of time were key - plaster, distressed reclaimed woods, solid ironwork, heavy Belgian linens, Louis XV cane furniture and lustrous marble. Playing with shadows and light in the Entry, Dining Room and the Master Bedroom brought both warmth and a quiet elegance to this previously cookie cutter space. Accessories and styling will bring even more panache once we’re done!
